Parental polymorphism survey using rice microsatellite markers between VGD 1 and ADT 55 for marker-assisted backcross breeding program

نویسندگان

چکیده

Marker-assisted backcross breeding program was anticipated to introgress bacterial blight (BB) resistance genes into an elite fine-grain rice cultivar VGD 1. Pyramided with three (xa5, Xa13, Xa21), ADT 55 the donor parent. A parental polymorphism survey executed between VGD1 and using genome-wide simple sequence repeats (SSR) also called microsatellite markers, identify polymorphic markers. Distributed throughout 12 chromosomes of rice, in current research 166 SSR markers were employed, out which 58 are found be 1 35% percentage information content (PIC) is about 0.6. The obtained through this could utilized for background selection progenies retrieve highest recurrent parent genome.

Marker-assisted introgression in backcross breeding programs.

The efficiency of marker-assisted introgression in backcross populations derived from inbred lines was investigated by simulation. Background genotypes were simulated assuming that a genetic model of many genes of small effects in coupling phase explains the observed breed difference and variance in backcross populations. Markers were efficient in introgression backcross programs for simultaneo...

Backcross assisted by microsatellite markers in common bean.

The objectives of the present study were to monitor the effect of backcrossing through microsatellite markers and to compare different marker assisted selection strategies. Four populations were developed using donor parents resistant to the bean golden mosaic virus and, for all crosses, only individuals resistant to the bean golden mosaic virus were backcrossed. For crosses ARC100-4 x DOR303 a...

Using SCC8, SCF27 and VMC7f2 markers in grapevine breeding for seedlessness via marker assisted selection.

We used molecular markers associated with seedlessness in grapes, namely SCC8, SCF27 and VMC7f2, to improve the efficiency of seedless grapevine breeding via marker assisted selection (MAS). DNA from 372 F₁ hybrid progeny from the cross between seeded "Alphonse Lavallée" and seedless "Sultani" was amplified by PCR using three markers. After digestion of SCC8 marker amplification products by res...

Marker-assisted Backcross Breeding: A Case- Study in Genotype Building Theory

Introduction I wish here to provide an overview of some past and more recent results on marker-assisted backcross breeding theory, and discuss the general consequences for marker-assisted selection and genotype building. Backcross breeding (MAB) is a well-known procedure for the introgression of a target gene from a donor line into the genomic background of a recipient line. The objective is to...

Rice Variety Improvement Using Marker-Assisted Selection

Molecular marker-assisted selection (MAS) is currently being employed in two areas of rice breeding at the University of Arkansas Rice Research and Extension Center (RREC) in Stuttgart. Presently the objective of the program is to accelerate the development of rice cultivars with improved cooking quality and rice blast disease resistance using two well-characterized molecular markers. A co-domi...
